Abstract

MACHADO, Andréia Proença  and  SOUSA, Edson Luiz André de. Oswald de Andrade: poetry and psychoanalysis. Rev. Polis Psique [online]. 2015, vol.5, n.3, pp. 119-134. ISSN 2238-152X.

The important Brazilian Modernist artist Oswald de Andrade used his poetry and in-ventive thought to denounce the mass vulgarisation of the ideas of his time and to pro-claim the importance of critique within the process of social transformation. The radi-calism of Oswald de Andrade's poetry evinces to this day a certain alienating effect which compels us to confer with psychoanalysis and its articulation of the Freud’s text, The Stranger (1919). The estrangement which does not offer an immediate answer is the key to further questioning the mass vulgarisation of modes of feeling and living.

Keywords : Oswald de Andrade; Poetry; Psychoanalysis; Utopia.
