Abstract

HUNING, Simone Maria; CABRAL, Rosângela Jacinto  and  RIBEIRO, Maria Auxiliadora Teixeira. On The Margins: Psychology, Social Assistance Policy and Territorialities. Rev. Polis Psique [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.3, pp. 52-69. ISSN 2238-152X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22456/2238-152X.86108.

In this article we analyze both the disengagement and the integration of the field of psychology in the vulnerable territories upon which the organization of Brazilian National Social Assistance Policy (NSAP) is based.  Our objective is to reflect upon the practices, know-how, formation, and the territorialities constituted by the interface of this disciplinary field with the NSAP.  Thus, inspired by Walter Benjamin’s idea of narrative as a method of exchange of experience, we share fragments of an experience of insertion in a community considered vulnerable.  In this manner, we affirm a psychology and a policy of the recording and production of knowledge that, beyond theories and techniques, operates on the remembered, the forgotten, the unknown, and the uncertain.  From the strength and resourcefulness that defines the possibility of life in these territories, narratives may emerge that constitute other territorialities, understandings, and tasks for the field of psychology.

Keywords : psychology; territorialities; National Social Assistance Policy.
