Abstract

SANTOS, Bruno Vieira dos. Youth okkupying politics: a case study at Belo Horizonte. Rev. Polis Psique [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.2, pp. 112-136. ISSN 2238-152X.

Based on the case study of the construction of a public equipment in Belo Horizonte (MG), this article intends to present nuances and forms of youth political action through more or less institutional actions, more or less radical, depending on the moment and the historical context. The Youth Reference Center (CRJ in portuguese), built between 2012 and 2016, features elements of how youth groups have focused on its existence and functioning. This text is part of a master's research on youth activism, public policies and advocacy, carried out in the context of the capital of the state of Minas Gerais with young/youth groups. The research methodology was based on participant observation, a journal of reminiscences, inspired by the concept of dense description created by C. Geertz, and semi-structured interviews with seven women who participated in some phase of construction / claim by the CRJ.

Keywords : youth; public policies; juvenile activsm; Youth Reference Center; Belo Horizonte.
