Abstract

FLORES, Paula; GALEANO, Giovana Barbieri; SOARES, Helena Barros  and  PASSOS, Robert Filipe. What can social psychology do about the present?. Rev. Polis Psique [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.1, pp. 204-221. ISSN 2238-152X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.22456/2238-152X.107984.

This article problematizes Social Psychology by taking the social not as a field of application of modern psychology, but as an effect of the tensions of knowledge and power. Our objective is to question what elements that make up the present have been discussed in this field of knowledge, at the same time as it is these same elements that produce social psychology as a field of knowledge and intervention in the face of the present of the Brazilian political-economic configuration. The problems of world power organization, neoliberal capitalist logic, and colonial and conservative forces are points of analysis during the text, especially with regard to Latin America. The time clipping used for the writing of this article is located in the years 2018 and 2019 because these years have constituted themselves as limit experiences that at the same time tend to immobilize us, create the need to produce a living thought and believe in the change that we can operate in the world.

Keywords : Social Psychology; Present; Brazil.
