This article aims to analyze the progress of urban space financialization policies in Porto Alegre. For this purpose, we analyse the demolition of a townhouses set that housed about 10 families, in an irregular urban occupation, in the city central area. From the rubble left by the public administration we seek to analyze the conditions of possibility for the emergence of government practices that operate by the logic of the embrittlement of public properties and by the destruction of existential territories in the name of the financial valuation. We also narrate the rise of resistance movements to the territorial exclusion processes and the strategies for strengthening practices to democratize the access to the city.
