This study aims to present some remarks which we understand that are crucial to guide a research with psychoanalytical orientation. We must highlight that our main interest is to formulate a defense of the psychoanalytic method in the production of research, especially those eminently theoretical. We take as starting point the questioning of the legitimacy of an opposition between a pure psychoanalysis and the other applied - theory and clinical practice - showing that this dualism cannot be sustained by psychoanalysis, as if they were separated compartments. Then, we characterize the specificity of the psychoanalytic method, based on listening and interpretation, emphasizing the possibility of its application to other situations then the one stricly found at the cabinet, as long as we keep the same requirements from clinical practice. After, we underline how the arbitrary function of the interpreter may, at the same time, provide the power and the limitations of the psychoanalytical method. Finally, we try to point out some directions for psychoanalytic research, stressing the importance of the work of construction in analysis and speculation for the researcher.
