Abstract

TEIXEIRA RIBEIRO, Cynara  and  HORTELIO FERNANDES, Andréa. Treatments for drug users: possibilities, challenges and limits of relationship between the damage reduction proposal and the psychoanalytic proposal. Analytica [online]. 2013, vol.2, n.2, pp. 33-58. ISSN 2316-5197.

The article discusses the particulars of three treatment proposals for drug users: abstinence, harm reduction and psychoanalysis, devoting special attention to the debate between the last two. They were evaluated the possibilities of articulation between them by examining their assumptions and practices conducted in institutions that offer treatment for drug use from different perspectives. We conclude that psychoanalysis contributes to the treatment proposals to introduce a clinical dimension ruled in the subject's unconscious and in the uniqueness of each user.

Keywords : mental health; drug use; treatment proposals; harm reduction; psychoanalysis.
