This article aims to address the first academic paper on psychoanalysis in Brazil, having as main objective to present how Genserico Aragon de Souza Pinto appropriated psychoanalysis from discussions with interlocutors as Juliano Moreira e Austregésilo Rodrigues de Lima. The emphasis on the role of sexuality in the etiology of neurosis and also in "normal" life become a major theme of this dissertation.
