The considerations presented in this discussion seek to situate the fundamental point to which the phallus was elevated in Lacan, namely: the statute of organizer signifier the sexual field. For this, we rescue the place of the phallus in the ancient world, linking the sourc eof this conceptin Freud's work to the history of civilizations and, in particular, revisit the Writing "The signification of the phallus", taking as the guiding principle this reflection.We believe that this article despite doesn't close the theme about this conceptin Lacan's work, broach the key points about the dimension of thephallus as signifier- articulation found at the endof his teaching,even when resizedby their theoretical advance in respect to sexuality.
