Abstract

GURGEL, Clarisse. The Empire of Images The Performative action between Acting Out and Walkway to Act. Analytica [online]. 2015, vol.4, n.7, pp. 39-60. ISSN 2316-5197.

This article aims to introduce the concept of performative action as preferential tactic of today`s organized communists and socialists. Such presentation will lead us to reflections around the character of performative action, as its configuration as a special kind of compulsion to repeat. Accordingly, our concept will transit between its characterization as an Acting Out and as a Passage to the Act, the latter as a way of leading performance in a context that some psychoanalysts have called Empire of Images. This initial difficulty in characterizing the performative action in the framework of a symptomatic action will be the conducting path to reach certain considerations about a possible diagnosis of our time.

Keywords : protest; performance; crowd; antagonism; acting out.
