The Clinical Indicators of Risk for Child Development (IRDI) were constructed, based on psychoanalytic theory, in a National Survey (Kupfer et al., 2003), with the objective of being validated for pediatric use. The IRDI aims to be an instrument to follow the psychic constitution of the baby from 0 to 18 months of age. It is also considered that the IRDI is a proposal for the interaction of Psychoanalysis with Medicine and Education in trying to take the notion of subject from the unconscious within the follow-up of child development carried out by pediatricians and within the educational act carried out by the nursery. It is highlighted as points of this interaction that: 1. the indicators were proposed in an affirmative way so that the health professional sought to pay attention to the founding operations of the psyche; 2. In the case of teachers' work, it is a third party that will accompany, through the indicators, the babies and their teachers, extending their function to the subjective field; 3. It is the articulation between the indicators that gives a significant value to each indicator and also a risk trend value; 4. Indicators are read-oriented and require interpretation, therefore they are not a "check list".
