Abstract

COELHO, Claudio Marcio. Gilberto Freyre: when words arouse pathos, affections and religion. Analytica [online]. 2017, vol.6, n.11, pp. 113-132. ISSN 2316-5197.

This article discusses the repercussion of some words in the thought of Gilberto Freyre. We defend the hypothesis that these words raised pathos, affections and religious feelings in the intellectual production of the author, focusing on his translation of the Brazilian past. Freyre defended a conservative and romantic perspective of the formation of Brazil. This work approaches patriarchal authoritarianism and its deleterious political effects in Brazilian society from the interface between history, psychoanalysis and politics.

Keywords : Gilberto Freyre; Religious sentiment; Patriarchal authoritarianism; Formation of Brazil.
