This study aimed to investigate, based on psychoanalysis, meetings and divergences of the mother and daughter relationship, giving focus to the process of indifferentiation and differentiation between them, from the film "Autumn Sonata". This is a qualitative research based on film analysis in a psychoanalytical approach. Data were collected through indirect and non-participant observation, with the characters speech records. The criteria for choosing the film was due to the articulation of this with some aspects of the theme of the mother-daughter relationship. The results of this research indicate that there may be a mother's movement to abandon her daughter and she develop a propensity to want to be looked after, dissatisfied as to what the mother could offer her, because it is understood that, paradoxically, the daughter needs her mother to be able to be separated from her. Over this film, both mother and daughter transited lifelong constituting a duet inseparable and at the same time apart, that seems to have allowed his daughter a fulfilling life.
