Resumen

SANTOS, Samuel Franco dos. Religion as illusion in freud. Analytica [online]. 2018, vol.7, n.12, pp. 84-99. ISSN 2316-5197.

In his interpretation of religious fact, Freud uses two hermeneutical models drawn from the psychoanalytic clinic: Neurosis and the Dream. As a neurosis, religion is conceived as the universal neurosis of mankind and related to remorse for the murder of the primeval father, that is, religion is an attempt to solve the problem of the feeling of guilt arising from the affective ambivalence towards the father . As an illusion, religion has to do with the nostalgia of the protective father. This article proposes to discuss and present the religion in Freud within the hermeneutic model of the illusion. The author concludes that for psychoanalysis, the important thing is to understand the latent motives of our religious beliefs and disbeliefs. Every discourse, including religious discourse, is a human discourse that, regardless of being neurotic or sublime, is subject to unconscious determinations.
