Abstract

BARBOSA, Maria Nadeje Pereira  and  KUPERMANN, Daniel. "Perfection belongs to the things that are narrated, not to those that are lived": Elaboration and Sublimation in Primo Levi. Analytica [online]. 2018, vol.7, n.13, pp. 218-237. ISSN 2316-5197.

This paper aims to analyze the elaborative work and the sublimatory processes in the life and testimonial work of Primo Levi. We start from the idea according to which the writing activity of Primo Levi must be inserted into its historical-experiential dimension, in which respect and dignity in relation to others was one of the elements that enabled the elaboration of traumatism, the fulfillment of sublimation's drive destiny, and an intensification of the work of thought. Starting from a transdisciplinary approach between psychoanalysis and testimonial content, we seek to show that the latter takes the place of a third element, in which the recognition and sharing components of the concentrationary experience in the several temporal moments of the post-war will demarcate the readjustment of its drive economy. To conclude, we seek to resize Primo Levi's specific experience and his categories subjacent to catastrophic phenomena of our time that convoke us in the direction of a clinic of care, in the sense of making it possible for language to act on catastrophic discourse without erasing its factual dimension.

Keywords : Sublimation; Elaboration; Primo Levi; Shoah; Testimony.
