Abstract

TORQUATO, Luciana Cavalcante  and  ROCHA, Guilherme Massara. O pensamento estrangeiro: a errância de Freud no Brasil. Analytica [online]. 2018, vol.7, n.13, pp. 287-299. ISSN 2316-5197.

This paper aims to present the paths through which psychoanalysis arrived in Brazil, especially considering the modernist art appropriation in the early twentieth century, trough the works of Mário de Andrade and Oswald de Andrade. It can be seen that the history of psychoanalysis in Brazil can be considered from different approaches, ranging from the early reception of the national psychiatric environment to the unpretentious reading of Freud by part of the brazilian literary vanguard. In order to investigate the first perceptions about the way in which the national culture would have received Freud's ideas, we demonstrated how Freudian thought was affiliated to the discourses and traditions existing in the national space. In addition, each of these discursive ways carried specific interests in selecting the Freudian themes, providing the exiled Viennese discipline with odd readings that will mark its trajectory in the country.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; History; Circulation; Modernism.
