Abstract

FERREIRA, Leticia Maria Soares  and  CHATELARD, Daniela Scheinkman. The subject and the musicality of speech. Analytica [online]. 2019, vol.8, n.14, pp. 1-10. ISSN 2316-5197.

The aim of this work is to address the issues related to the musicality of speech. The subject makes himself before the limit imposed by the symbolic interdict; however, in the song of his speech, puts himself beyond the meanings of words. The prosody of speech, with its musicality and intonation, emphasizes a non linguistic value and conveys desire, leaves out the dimension of meaning, and reveals what cannot be said with words. Musicality would be what escapes censorship and makes the symbolic debt bearable. It is argued that the possibility of returning to the senseless, to the voice lost in the encounter with the symbolic, through the musical condition of speech, especially in the analytic process, may reveal something about the functioning of the subject. While humming in his speech, he makes himself heard in his subjective position through these musical traces.

Keywords : Musicality of speech; Voice; Psychoanalysis; Clinic.
