Abstract

ROSARIO, Angela Bucciano do. Contemporary individualism and the new subjective arrangements in the Psychoanalysis perspective. Analytica [online]. 2019, vol.8, n.14, pp. 1-15. ISSN 2316-5197.

This study seeks understanding the subjective effects of social and cultural changes feasible by contemporary individualism, manifested in some ways of disrespect among people. The psychoanalytic theory is used as a driving axle in the dialogue with authors of philosophy and sociology, interested in the issue of alterity. From ideas contained in the concepts of freedom and autonomy, a short course of individualism is performed as affirmation of individual as principle and value and it's inferred that the subjective correlate to current individualism is the psychic structure of narcissism that hides the original and irreducible helplessness. The effects of this phenomenon are shown in the fragility of social ties and in the fading of the alterity dimension. Finally, it seeks an intervention that considers the importance of castration and the bonding to the other as alterity.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Individualism; Narcissism; Helplessness; Alterity.
