Abstract

REIS, Maycon Pádua  and  SILVA, Magali Milene. Reality and Fantasy for Freudian Psychoanalysis. Analytica [online]. 2020, vol.9, n.16, pp. 1-19. ISSN 2316-5197.

The article aims to investigate the status of reality for Freudian psychoanalysis based on these three points: the clinic of hysteria and trauma as unconscious fantasy; the notion of helplessness and the Thing as lost; and the idea of loss of reality in neurosis and psychosis. It is tried to demonstrate that, for Freud, the reality is built from a loss. Freud says that trauma, which is related with the origins of the psyconeurosis, refers to an incompatible representation, which, through a process of defense, is withdrawn from consciousness. We are born in helplessness, since the human baby is at the mercy of another that provides satisfaction and demands the function of communication. The psychic apparatus would be a construction that starts from representations and configures specific problems to those that are affected by the culture. Reality establishes a logical order, which is true for the subject who builds it, since reality depends on the arrangement of the field of representations. Thus, psychic reality is constituted in a singular way since the loss resulting from the symbolic mediation inherent in language.
