COSTA, Raul Max Lucas da  e  SILVA, Macla Alice Bezerra de Oliveira. Desire and regression on pregnancy: a psychoanalytical perspective. Analytica [online]. 2020, vol.9, n.17, pp. 1-24. ISSN 2316-5197.

On pregnancy, many structures that surround women are modified and affected, which would be related to their personal lives or others: their interrelation with their bodies, with their companions, with their families, their relationship with other children, in case of more than one pregnancy, their employment relationship when there is any, their social relationships, and their internal elaborations. From the gathering of eminent works about this topic, there were covered and discussed subjective influent aspects on different periods of a mother's life: the regression, the ambivalent aspect of her desires, her female constitution, and the image of the child as the phallus substitute. There was made a conciliation of classic and old writings through recent scientific articles, which resulted in a bibliographic research. This paper aims to address the gravid process in the development view of it through a psychoanalytical perspective. It was proposed to build literature reviewing to enhance knowledge about the pregnancy period allowing the reader to have a wide and consistent point of view of the abovementioned subjects. From these topics, it was noticed that the maternal regression concept needs theoretical and practical deeper studies. It could be concluded that once the pregnancy period assembles a mother's previous historical elements and add them to her childhood, her female constitution, her sexual development, and to her desire's elaboration, a pregnant woman needs greater care, which are beyond physical needs and have to include all of her psychic constitution.
