Abstract

SCARANO, Renan Cota Valle  and  PERTILE, Giovani Henrique. The Question of Identification in The Mirror Stadium and its Relationship to the Alterity in Jacques Lacan. Analytica [online]. 2021, vol.10, n.19, pp. 1-21. ISSN 2316-5197.

This text addresses the issue of identification in the work Mirror Stage published in 1949 by Jacques Lacan, relating this moment to the emergence of alterity. Firstly, explanations about the content of the text are presented, then the concepts of otherness (small other and big Other) are approached. In Lacan, the subject is understood in his context, his personality is formed with the contact of the figures present in the environment in which he lives. The Mirror Stadium is also explained in a psychoanalytic discussion, the three phases of the stadium and the meaning for Lacan of such a concept. Then, the issue of the small other and the big Other in the constitution of the subject is discussed, approaching the role of language in the alterity relationship.

Keywords : Lacan; Subject; Otherness; Language.
