Abstract

GOMES, Maria Caroline Cardoso  and  SILVA, Magali Milene. Effects of capitalist discourse: reflections on violence today. Analytica [online]. 2022, vol.11, n.20, pp. 1-21. ISSN 2316-5197.

This article aims to investigate a characteristic phenomenon of the culture itself: violence, and its relationship with the social bond dominated by the capitalist discourse. We elucidated the concept of necropolitics to characterize violence as it appears today. We discussed how the drives operate in the civilization formation process and how it regulates aggressiveness, enabling collective life. This article also seeks to analyze the phenomenon of violence as something that denounces non-functioning, based on Jacques Lacan's theory of discourses, especially from an analysis of the capitalist discourse. Violence appears as what points to a possible manifestation before of this discursive structure, as it makes a "short circuit", breaking with something from the field of civilization. Mankind themselves begin to interpret themselves as products, objects to be inevitable consumed through this phenomenon that is very common, even if strange: violence.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Violence; Capitalism; Discourse.
