In this article we examine, through a clinical case, how naturalized racist discourses shake the subject's position in the social bond. We highlight the function of the public space and the rescue of social history as socio-political preconditions necessary to break the discursive helplessness, to elaborate the mourning of segregation and to rescue a place of speech and singularity. We follow the resistance to such discourses and the way in which the public and collective dimension of mourning allows the rescue of individual and social history, as well as the processing of the transmission of the experience from the new generations to their parents, thereby breaking the discursive helplessness while naming other possibilities of social belonging.
