Abstract

PLURAL, Equipe Niñez. Childhood, otherness and care: Reflections for an emerging field of study. Desidades [online]. 2019, n.25, pp. 48-58. ISSN 2318-9282.

In this article we aim to give an account of some relevant aspects of the growing child care field of studies, to deepen the view from which it is generally approached. To this end, we present a brief review of the investigations on the subject and link some of these lines with those developed by our research group, which is devoted to the fields of child care in domestic, collective and communal spheres, the institutional trails of careing and the careing practices in political and productive experiences. As a final reflection, we propose that in spite of the interesting advances that have been taking place in this interdisciplinary field, it is necessary to include how alterity affects child care, and which are the different notions and experiences of childhood involved in caretaking processes, as a contribution to this field under construction.

Keywords : childhood; alterity; care.
