Abstract

HANSEN, Nele. "Show me your life": the guided walk and the association game in qualitative research with young people. Desidades [online]. 2020, n.27, pp. 10-22. ISSN 2318-9282.

In this article I expose two innovative techniques for qualitative social research with young people: The guided walk through the neighbourhood and the association game. They are part of a set of 10 research techniques that I applied in my doctoral research on the identities of young people from Dominican and Ecuadorian families in Barcelona. Framing the two techniques in my methodological approach, I detail the procedure of the two techniques and my experiences with them. Finally, I share methodological reflections about them and social research with young people in general.

Keywords : social research with young people; qualitative methodology; guided walk through the neighbourhood; association game; youth identity.
