Abstract

HYBINER, Juliana Mara Batista Menezes  and  AZEVEDO, Giselle Arteiro Nielsen. The influence of lighting on young people's emotions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Desidades [online]. 2021, n.29, pp. 32-52. ISSN 2318-9282.

ABSTRACT Since the outbreak of COVID-19 ¡n early 2020, social isolation has been part of our daily lives. Habits were changed, making us spend more and more time in our homes alternating between the chores of personal and professional life. The present study contemplated opinions of young people between 21 and 29 years of the Architecture and Urbanism course, from May to June and, later, on September 20, 2020. Through incorporated observation, daily records and field sketches, young people registered their altered daily life due to the quarantine regime. The research revealed that the positive emotions presented are directly related to places with adequate luminous comfort conditions, including openings to the outside and contact with nature. Environments with the absence of favorable conditions reported in this study, in addition to negatively influencing emotions, may compromise the sense of identity of these young people.

Keywords : human emotions; luminous comfort; environmental perception; place quality.
