Abstract

ARRUDA, Jalusa Silva de  and  CARVALHO, Maria João Leote de. Emerging reflections and debates on juvenile justice. Desidades [online]. 2021, n.29, pp. 259-274. ISSN 2318-9282.

In this interview relevant aspects about juvenile justice were addressed, such as the role of sociological investigations and changes in the social worlds of childhood and youth and their impact on the care and monitoring of adolescents and young people. It dealt with current issues orbiting youth justice, such as today's perceptions of development in relation to age and the increasing number of female adolescents and young people selected by the juvenile justice system. Focusing on the Portuguese reality, the interviewee defended the prioritization of community actions, as well as the exceptionality of the imposition of custodial measures, in his view, of effects that can be harmful to adolescents and young people in the face of less severe measures. The interview is relevant for researchers who are interested in themes related to juvenile justice, especially with a view to comparative studies.

Keywords : juvenile justice; juvenile delinquency; Educational Tutelage Law; risk; recidivism.
