ARUVALO, Carla  and  GRANDE, Pablo De. Childhood and autonomy: determinants of the independent mobility of children and adolescents in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. Desidades [online]. 2021, n.30, pp. 104-123. ISSN 2318-9282.

This article describes the independent mobility of children and adolescents in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Based on the Encuesta de Movilidad Domiciliaria carried out in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires between 2009 and 2010, the frequency with which children and adolescents moved independently, as well as the main reasons and means by which they did it as shown. The analysis is organized through three dimensions of mobility: educational mobility, socialization, and mobility aimed at daily organization. Independent mobility is characterized descriptively and through logistic regression models. As a result, differences are distinguished according to social position, as well as changes in mobility patterns throughout the life cycle.
