Abstract

SERRNO, Bianca Orrico; SANTANA, Juliana Prates  and  FERRO, Maria Jorge Santos Almeida Rama. "I feel I was reborn": the insertion of adolescents in a Protection Program. Desidades [online]. 2021, n.30, pp. 162-179. ISSN 2318-9282.

This investigation aims to analyze the subjective meanings attributed to the Program for the Protection of Children and Adolescents Threatened with Death (PPCAAM) by protected adolescents in the state of Bahia, Brazil. This policy was instituted due to the increase in the number of homicides in the 15 to 19 age group and the need for protection for those who suffer an imminent death threat. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 16 adolescents, and the results demonstrate the importance of the program in the right to life and the main difficulties faced in a program whose insertion involves changes and restrictions. It's intended to contribute to the qualification of this important policy, based on the dissemination of the voices of adolescents, in addition to thinking about future investigations that carry out the longitudinal monitoring of adolescents, seeking to understand the medium and long-term impacts of passing through the program.

Keywords : adolescence; protection; subjective sense; lethal violence.
