Abstract

One of the most recent polemical issues is the freedom of sexual orientation. The following note shows, using secondary data, that the necessity of specifying the genre of the sexual partner gained importance, on Western culture, only and mainly in the Eighteenth century, and that the need for public recognition of the hetero diverse sexual orientation is, actually, a reconquest, and not a novelty in the mankind history, once there are reports of analogues practices since antique societies.
