Abstract

AZEVEDO, Ana Karina Silva  and  DUTRA, Elza Maria do Socorro. There is no you without me: stories of surviving women of a murder attempt. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.2, pp. 201-213. ISSN 2359-0769.

The murder followed by suicide (M / S) is defined as a crime in which a person takes the life of another one and then kills him/herself within 24 hours. We aimed to understand the meanings of the experience of an M / S, from women who have survived this act. This is a phenomenological-hermeneutic research, based on Heidegger's ontology. We interviewed three M / S survivors, whose testimony were interpreted according to the Heidegger's hermeneutic circle. We realized that these women built meaning in their lives, represented in family foundation. This project moved their lives toward the building of ways-to-be. Historicity built meanings for the existence of these women, with reports of an experience of love relationships characterized by strong jealousy, betrayal fantasies and marked by a care in the affective relationship that restricted their existence to being-for-the-husband. So what made these women continue to choose this relationship was the sense that they had for their existence. It is hoped that this study contributes to the construction of a new look on violence against women, taking as a basis the Heidegger's hermeneutic phenomenology.

Keywords : phenomenological research; hermeneutic phenomenology; homicide followed by suicide; domestic violence.
