This article aims to analyze the failure of the paternal function in the female anorexia constitution. Anorexia is an eating disorder that is defined by too much body mass reduction. Disclosed in the media as a current pathology, through a brief history, it was verified that in previous times, as in the Middle Ages, there was evidence of food deprivation in women. The study of anorexia is essential for understanding this urgent and common theme in the current clinic. The main objective of this study was to analyze how the decline of the symbolic function of the father determines the construction of anorexia in female. The family dynamics of female anorexia were analyzed through the intense relationship between mother and daughter, the absence of paternal function and the consequences of this family dynamics for its constitution. In order to understand this problem, a bibliographical survey was carried out using the psychoanalytical theoretical framework, using articles and books by contemporary authors guided by the theories of Freud and Lacan.
