Abstract

CALZAVARA, Maria Gláucia Pires et al. Decline of authority and its effects on the school field: a psychoanalytic perspective. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.3, pp. 109-120. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.16.3.109-120.

In this article, we sought to investigate how the school has been suffering the effects of contemporaneity with regard to the decline of authority figures. This research was done through semi-structured interviews, carried out with teachers who work in the elementary school grades of a school in the interior of Minas Gerais. The main questions posed by the teachers were the difficulties in assuming the role of authority, the lagged school curriculum, the need for a support/regenerator teacher, the calming function of the diagnosis of the problem student and the families' participation in the educational process. When we consider these questions from a psychoanalytic perspective, the report of teachers who feel they are unauthorized shows that they do not know how to deal with the current malaise, thus revealing the position of the one who does not register and may not register with the inconsistency of authority. We know that in the psychoanalytic field there is transmitted a know-how to deal with what is not known, what escapes to the subject. Thus, the proposal of dialogue between psychoanalysis and education does not come about through the restoration of authority by authoritarianism, which is very much a part of traditional education, but by the exercise of a function that seeks to preserve the self-hiatus to the impossible in the field of education.
