Abstract

PRESA, Giovanna Amanda  and  CREMASCO, Maria Virgínia Filomena. Living without the Object. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.1, pp. 1-10. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.rs.v18i1.5682.

This article aims to perform a psychoanalytic clinical reading of Paul Bettany's film "Living Without Address" (2014) to investigate the issue of the impossible loss of the investment object in borderline cases. For this, we will portray the story of the Hannah character, who, like other homeless people, lives surrounded by dangers and uncertainties, typical of the traumatic situations of helplessness. The film loaded with scenes that serve as support to establish a link with the deletion of subjectivity facet the trauma can assume in the psychic configuration of some subjects. It was decided to highlight that at the heart of this problem is the importance of the functions performed by the primary objects, which, depending on the quality of their responses, will have a direct action in relation to the traumatic experiences. From the analysis of the film in interlocution with psychoanalysis, we think of the hypothesis that Hannah brings traumatic marks that could not be integrated into her psyche, increasing her passivity in relation to the object of instinctual consumption personified, initially, in the drug and then in your boyfriend.

Keywords : trauma; limit cases; psychoanalysis; object.
