Abstract

The present study is part of a broader investigation of remarriage with the ex-spouse, aimed to understand how the expression of love, from the components of the triangular theory of love, contributes to the reconstruction of this type of relationship. A qualitative research was carried out, in which 12 independent subjects were interviewed, from the middle classes of the population of Rio de Janeiro, heterosexual, married to the ex-spouse, with at least one child in common. To analyze the results, the content analysis method was used, discussing the category attributes of love and its subcategories: intimacy, passion and decision / commitment. There was a natural protection to the relationship through the attributes of the components of intimacy and decision / commitment, forming companion love, reinforced by genuine donation.
