Abstract

DIAS, Eliane Aparecida Costa  and  MORETTO, Maria Livia Tourinho. The Specificity of the Production of Concepts in Psychoanalysis. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.2, pp. 1-11. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.rs.v20i2.e8224.

This work discusses the production of concept in psychoanalysis. Based on the premise that there is specificity in the production of concepts in this field, we conducted a specific dialogue with the philosophy to apprehend a more generic definition of the concept, which enabled us to move towards the concept in psychoanalysis. For that, we went through passages of Freud and Lacan's work that allowed us to verify that the conceptual production in psychoanalysis is defined by its logic and due to the specificity of its object and method. We found that the concept appears as an attempt to answer the problems that emerge in the clinical experience but, the peculiarity of the psychoanalysis object (the singular constitution of the subject and the unconscious from the immersion in the symbolic field of language) imposes on the concept in psychoanalysis the characteristics of non-generalization and the impossibility of reaching a final and totalizing definition (unfinished condition). The concept is forged in the passage of experience in the analytical (therapeutic) device to its formalization (theory), but it points, permanently, to a dimension of the object of investigation that is out of the possibility of meaning and, thus, escapes knowledge. The real of the psychoanalytic experience is, therefore, that which is avoided by the concept.

Keywords : concept; psychoanalysis; Freud; Lacan.
