Resumen

NOVAIS, Diego Bertanha; CAMPOS, Érico Bruno Viana  y  CAROPRESO, Fátima Siqueira. Aesthetic Enjoyment in Freud's Work. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.2, pp. 1-10. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.rs.v20i2.e8988.

This article aims to expose Sigmund Freud's conceptions about aesthetic enjoyment. He starts from the hypothesis that there are two basic positions regarding the theme in the author's work: one referring to the work of art as a source of pleasure and the other linked to the production of restlessness. According to Freud, the pleasure produced by the work of art would be the result of an energy discharge, which would allow a temporary suspension of repression and the realization disguised as an unconscious desire. The restlessness, on the other hand, would be produced when the work of art manifested certain elements linked to the repressed or referred to forms of thought already overcome during the psychic development. We conclude that, in both cases, aesthetic enjoyment would be related to the evocation of repressed unconscious representations. However, the determination of the affections raised in the viewer would also be influenced by the manipulation exercised by the artist, from the application of his technique.

Palabras clave : psychoanalysis; Freud; Sigmund (1856-1939); aesthetic enjoyment; restlessness.
