Abstract

GUZMAN, Marcelo Chapa  and  DERZI, Carla de Abreu Machado. Trauma and its Treatment: Freud and Lacan Contributions. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.1, pp. 1-14. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.rs.v21i1.e9254.

This work presents an analysis of the concept of trauma throughout the works of Freud and Lacan. The factual traumatic event has fundamental support at the beginning of Freud's work, being located as the main etiology of neuroses, allowing the invention of the concept of a posteriori. Freud moves away from the theory of seduction, and the fantasy concept gains a primordial value in the role of trauma. During the war, Freud describes and distinguishes trauma in times of peace and war and, years later, links the concept to the death drive. In Lacan's Freudian rereading, the trauma of the subject's constitution is discussed, the relationship between trauma and the Other's desire from seminar 6, trauma as a contingent collision with the real and its relationship with repetition, and, finally, the entrance into language as a real trauma of the subject and its relationship with enjoyment. Finally, a possible treatment route is articulated based on the discussion of the dangers of prevention, the inevitability of trauma, the subject responsibility, and the importance of speech.
