Abstract

ALVES, Lucas de Oliveira  and  MARSILLAC, Ana Lúcia Mandelli de. Ai Weiwei's Artistic Crossings: A Psychoanalytical Look at the Subject, Time and the Foreigner in Lei da Jornada. Rev. Subj. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.3, pp. 1-13. ISSN 2359-0769.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5020/23590777.rs.v21i3.e10830.

This article analyzes the work Law of the journey by contemporary artist Ai Weiwei. For this, the psychoanalytic method of floating attention is used to investigate the work as a formation of the unconscious, a symptom of a time that interrogates contexts and works that extrapolate the artist's intentions. The density of the image and the symbolic universe that constitutes the work is examined, operating with the Freud-Lacanian concepts of the subject, foreigner, and a hybrid concept of time. The reflection unfolds into discussions about the unheimliche (unfamiliar), trauma, and difference, seeking, in the link with the work, to problematize subjective, political, and historical issues concerning the refugees' journeys.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; art; subject; time; foreign.
