The present issue of RBCDH maintains and highlights our main characteristics. It offers 16 articles written by researchers from many Brazilian states, such as Pará, Bahia, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul. The range of themes is, as usual, very comprehensive, with extremely interesting contributions. Coelho Jr. and Silva analyzed the phenomenon of "cosplay" – the use of fantasies and accessories to imitate (or impersonate) the heroes from comic books, animated cartoons and animes.

Several articles approach very important aspects of child development. Thus, Alves and Veríssimo studied the "conflict" between teaching and giving care experienced by day-care centers caregivers; Moreira and Biasoli-Alves studied families and their collaborators in the task of child rearing; Ribas, Jr., Seidl de Moura and Bornstein studied maternal cognitions about human development, from the perspective of parental psychology; on Education, searching for the origins of health medicalization in the school, Zucoloto analyzed theses from the second half of the 19th century of the School of Medicine of Bahia.

As if announcing a certain degree of success in the goal of reaching a balance between the "lines" of knowledge, we have, in this issue, many articles about Maternal and Child Health themes. Silva and Siqueira studied the value of support care for the parturient woman in a Normal Delivery Center; Marinho, Martins, Oliveira and Araújo investigated the relationship between obesity and low stature in poor communities of Vale do Paraíba; Selestrin and collaborators evaluated physiological parameters in preterm newborns submitted to physiotherapy; Garcia, Ferreira and Oliveira, in Pará, studied parents' understanding about newborn screening; Rosa, Reis and Tanaka conducted an interesting review on successive pregnancies in adolescence; Souza, João and Sacco evaluated the longitudinal plantar arch of obese children; Leite and Tanaka analyzed the tendencies over time of mortality due to uterine cancer in the state of São Paulo.

Approaching very important matters, in a great thematic dispersion (much valued by RBCDH), Oliveira and Cavalcanti studied domestic violence based on the archives of a Police Station for Women Defense; Menezes and Lopes analyzed the transition to marriage in cohabitant and non-cohabitant couples; Bonfim, Bastos and Carvalho investigated disruptive situations in families caused by hospitalization. Finally, Moinho, Lordelo and Moura approached the socialization goals of mothers from Bahia.

Thanks to the great contribution we have received from the authors, in the broad geographic, thematic and methodological variety that is already our mark, our goal for 2007 is: we intend to reach quarterly periodicity, which will consolidate the good reputation of our RBCDH, already recognized in the community in which it is inserted.
