When talking about synaptic plasticity, one immediately thinks that brain plastic function depends on stimuli and experiences. The first studies that proved the presence of experience-dependent synaptic plasticity were carried out by Hubel and Wiesel22-24. The authors found that newborn kittens, when exposed to monocular visual deprivation from the dominant eye, transferred visual dominance to the non-dominant eye, which was not deprived. From this study, the term "experience-dependent synaptic plasticity" emerged, being of fundamental importance in the development of neural circuits22, 24-26.
