SOUZA, Nicoli Guerra de  e  LUKACHAKI, Karolina Reis dos Santos. The grieving process in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic: experiences of bereaved family members. Rev. SBPH [online]. 2025, vol.28, e021.  Epub 22-Set-2025. ISSN 1516-0858.  https://doi.org/10.57167/rev-sbph.2025.v28.592.

The context of the pandemic produced new challenges and specificities for families who lost their loved ones in this scenario, from the removal of the hospitalized person to the impossibility of performing farewell rituals, in addition to the psychological aspects involved in this process, factors potentially associated with a process of complicated mourning. The present work aimed to understand the ways in which bereaved family members due to deaths from Covid-19 experienced and dealt with the grieving process. This was an exploratory qualitative research, carried out through a documental study developed by analyzing medical records, files from the psychology service and carrying out semi-structured interviews with bereaved family members, through video calls via Google Meet. These family members included parents, brother, daughter and wife. There were three women, between 25 and 61 years old and two men between 26 and 55 years old. The interviews took place between March and June of 2021. The results obtained showed that the Covid-19 pandemic had significant impacts on the experience of grieving process.
