BERNARDINI, PRISCILE; BARROS, LEONARDO DE OLIVEIRA  e  MURGO, CAMÉLIA SANTINA. ASSOCIATIONS BETWEEN SELF-EFFICACY AND BURNOUT IN UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS. Arq. bras. psicol. [online]. 2022, vol.74, e017.  Epub 09-Set-2024. ISSN 1809-5267.  https://doi.org/10.36482/1809-5267.arbp-2022v74.18327.

This research aimed to investigate correlations between self-efficacy beliefs and burnout syndrome in university professors, to verify the prevalence of Burnout, as well as to study associations between the existence of Burnout and perceived Self-Efficacy with sociodemographic characteristics. Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale’s dimensions “Intentionality of Action” and “Class Management”, and MBI – Maslach Burnout Inventory’s dimensions “Emotional Exhaustion”, “Depersonalization” and “Professional Realization” were used in 356 participants. Although these professors presented strengthened self-efficacy beliefs, there are indications of Burnout Syndrome in 41.6% of them in various degrees of severity, with only 0.3% being in a severe stage, affecting more women and professors with lower educational level. Significant associations were identified between the presence of Burnout and Teacher Self-Efficacy, indicating that the lower the self-efficacy perceived the greater the propensity to Burnout.
