First information about Freud, some of his ideas and clinic, from 1899, brought by doctors, mostly neurologists or psychiatrists. More comprehensive views of the whole of Freud’s work from 1914 onwards, in which a Medical Graduation Student and a layman stand out. The Modern Art Week of 1922, when the name of Freud gained diffusion to a wider public, through poems and sayings by Mário de Andrade. First translation of Freud’s text in Brazil, direct from German, but incomplete, of Five Lessons on Psychoanalysis. Published in 1926 in A Revista, a modernist publication from Minas Gerais, influenced by the Modern Art Week of 22 and which brought together many of the names that would become famous in Brazilian poetry and literature. New flow, during the second half of the 20s, of medicalization and psychiatrization of Freudian texts. Often by doctors and psychiatrists who adhere to eugenics and even racist principles from the Hygiene and Mental Health Leagues. The exception was Durval Marcondes, who kept away from these ideas, and carried out the first complete translation, in 1931, of a text by Freud directly from German: Five Lessons on Psychoanalysis.
