This essay aims to discuss the elaboration of the concept of repression present in the article “Repression”, by Freud. Based on a clinical vignette, it seeks to circumscribe the Freudian concept guided by the perspective of the first topology of the psychic apparatus, dialoguing with fragments of a film. The Freudian article under discussion is configured as one of Freud’s metapsychological themes and still helps us in the direction of psychoanalytic treatment.
