Abstract

ALMEIDA, Angela Maria Menezes de. Old age: a new time of life. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2023, n.60, pp.109-114.  Epub Feb 07, 2025. ISSN 0100-3437.  https://doi.org/10.5935/2175-3482.n60a11.

This text, in counterpoint to the stigma of old age as a kind of pathology based on the decrepitude of the process of existing intends to think about it in relation to a new time of life - a time of transformation and invention, a time of the power of existing and a time of singularity. In its fabric, it seeks to connect threads of Freudian thought to authors from other areas and times, such as Baruch Spinoza, Walter Benjamin and Ângela Mucida, with the intention of better understanding the context of old age in current times, with a view to a psychoanalytic clinic where a new fabric can cover the desire of the subject in the aging process.

Keywords : Old age; Transience; Experience; Desire; Power to exist; Transformation; Singularity.
