This article discusses the experiences of two women in situations of gender-based violence with their partners, in two services of the Network for Combating Violence against Women, in a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Based on a qualitative, exploratory and interpretative study, it seeks to intertwine the concepts of Freud, Winnicott and Ferenczi about listening to trauma in psychoanalysis, based on clinical fragments of the initial reception of two women, who attend a psychology service of the network. The central themes discussed emphasize the attitude of professionals in the services in the guise of psychoanalysis’ recommendations on the analyst’s attitude and the importance of a facilitating environment for the development of trustworthiness, proposed in the ethics of psychoanalytic care of traumatized patients. Based on transference and countertransference phenomena, it is possible to understand the importance of qualifying professionals in the services, permeating analysis as a facilitating and protective instrument for those involved in the care of women in situations of violence. The violence of listening by unqualified professionals ends up causing new psychological helplessness in the face of traumatic situations, thus preventing listening to violence. As final considerations, we highlight the importance of technical qualifications in the various sectors of society that conduct some type of listening and support for the population, especially considering people in vulnerable situations.
