The text provides information on digital technologies and social networks, including some risks and crimes present in the digital environment. It brings reflections on the use of this technology by children and adolescents, considering factors such as privacy, security and psychological-emotional development. The work points out, based on the book ‘Geração do Quarto, by Hugo Monteiro Ferreira, the dangerous combination of the lack of bonding and dialogue between parents and children and the excessive use of screens/social networks, and their relationship in the illness of our children and adolescents. Although digital technology is not itself a problem, it is necessary to think about how to balance the virtual and real worlds, to guarantee other experiences, conversations and bonds than just the virtual ones because, after all, we need bonds, affection and adherence to be.
