This paper rehearses a discussion about diagnostic manuals and their function in relation to the singularity of the subject. It addresses the concept of diagnosis from a medical and psychoanalytic point of view and the main aspects to be taken into consideration. Furthermore, it looks at the semiology of mental disorders in society and inquiries about the individuals subjective forgetfulness.
