This essay provides a brief overview of how Freud employs the notion of normality in his early texts and later in his mature work. This leads us to an exploration of the relationship between the ideas of normality and pathology. Following this, a reflection is proposed, drawing connections between these ideas and those presented in some manuals of psycho-pathology. The text is explanatory in nature, interspersing evaluations and suggesting interpretations.
